New Season, New Plants

Like people, all plants have personalities. Some are hardy and tough and can last through the winter: Valerian, Wormwood, Dandelion, Skullcap, Horehound, Astragalus, Echinacea, Lemon Balm, Feverfew, Peppermint, Licorice and St. John's Wort will all overwinter from the previous season. Others are delicate and don't enjoy the cold, like Holy Basil, Ashwagandha and Artichoke. Sleepyheads such as Licorice and Skullcap slumber for as long as they can before joining the party.

The demand for organic plant material continues to grow, which means we plant a little more every year. Recently seeded in the greenhouse: Lemon Balm, Valerian, Burdock, Sheep Sorrel, Dandelion, Echinacea Angustifolia and Purpurea. And much to our excitement, we are introducing some newcomer crops this year: Artemesia annua (Sweet Annie), Mullein, Oregano, Elecampane and Rhodiola. We are eager to see how they thrive in this sunny, high-desert climate!
