Welcoming long-time friend Dr. Chris Meletis

July 2017

In early July we hosted Dr. Chris Meletis, N.D. for a tour of our facility and Culver farms. For decades we’ve enjoyed and benefited from a warm and supportive friendship with Dr. Meletis, so we were excited to show him how we’ve grown here in Central Oregon. Below is Dr. Meletis’ first-hand impressions of his time spent with the team.

Oregon's Wild Harvest Farm Tour with Dr. Chris Meletis

My recent visit to Oregon’s Wild Harvest was, without question, the most educational and inspiring of all my life's field trips. First and foremost, to visit OWH was a great honor. To spend time in your state-of-the-art testing labs and to have visited with the biologist and learn about the analytical chemistry that ensure quality and optimal active constituents of each and every batch.  What was so very refreshing and vitalizing was the passion of every single person that works at OWH. The scientists, support staff, warehouse, inventory and fulfillment team and onwards has smiles on their faces and their love of supporting the end consumer in their health quests were abundantly evident. Honestly, being a science geek and naturopathic doctor, I left the laboratory envious of the role and connectivity that the full time scientists get to enjoy daily. And I do mean enjoy, I visited with the head of analytical testing....and her level of enthusiasm was unparalleled and her brilliance was evident.

I can tell you I want Matthew with me, if ever I need to find the right plant, at the right time to harvest to help me, my family or patients.  The twinkle in his eye as we discussed plant identification and quality assurance said everything.  It was amazing watching him do what he has done for years and still be so very passionate about his pivotal role in ensuring things are done right and the end consumer (including my patients) are getting what they need.

My time with Randy Buresh was a true blessing. I have known Randy for nearly 30 years, yet he never ceases to amaze me. As we spent hours on the farm I became the student and he the teacher.  I left wiser, more knowledgeable and, without question, even more appreciative of having the opportunity to offer OWH products to my patients. When you do things right, with a family atmosphere, and you know that you are tending to the land and herbs in a sustainable fashion for future generations, it clearly makes people smile as I saw during my visit.
