Background and Use
Lemongrass is grown worldwide but is commonly used in South America and Southeast Asia. The plant grows in dense clumps up to two meters in diameter and has leaves up to one meter long. It’s versatility makes it one of the ten best selling essential oils in the world. It is used in aromatherapy, herbal teas, skin care products, fragrances, and insect repellents. Lemongrass is used in Cuban folk medicine for blood pressure and for a normal inflammation response. It is also traditionally drunk as a tea in Brazil relaxation, for the gastrointestinal tract and for fever. These anecdotal reports have yet to be backed up by scientific studies.
