First documented by Western medicine in 1801, the historical use of Black Cohosh dates back through centuries of Native American culture. Today, Black Cohosh remains one of the most popular remedies in the world for women's health. Freshly harvested organic American Black Cohosh root is provides the whole range of components that have been used traditionally. Modern research shows that no single ingredient, or group of ingredients, has proven to be responsible for the beneficial activity of Black Cohosh, so it is likely due to the full array of components. A study showed that efficacy of Black Cohosh in menopausal symptoms is dependent upon at least three different active constituents with a synergistic action.
Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Keep out of reach of children. Individuals who experience mild gastrointestinal upset or headaches should discontinue use.
WARNING: Until more information is available, women with estrogen-dependent tumors such as breast cancer should avoid using Black Cohosh.
Individuals sensitive to salicylic acid should use all Black Cohosh with caution.
