Background and Use
Sweet Basil (Ocimum basilica) is a commonly used medicinal herb in Thailand, India, and Turkey and has been used as a spice in cooking. While most of us are familiar with Basil as a culinary herb, the use of Basil in alternative medicine are yet to be confirmed. The essential oil has been used in preliminary test tube studies which indicate it may have antibacterial and antiviral properties. Further research is warranted.
NOTE: Not to be confused with Holy Basil (Tulsi), Ocimum sanctum, used in Ayurvedic medicine.

Keep out of reach of children. Not recommended for use during pregnancy or while nursing, until further research verifies no contraindications. Discontinue if unusual symptoms occur.
