Background and Use
Several European countries have approved Willow bark for pain and inflammatory disorders. The German Commission E has approved Willow bark for fever, rheumatism, and headaches. The British Herbal Compendium indicates that Willow can be used for rheumatic and arthritic conditions, and fevers. Similarly, the European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy (ESCOP) has approved Willow bark extract for the treatment of fever, pain, and mild rheumatic complaints.
Precautions
Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue if unusual symptoms occur.
Allergens
Avoid in patients allergic to aspirin or salicylates.
