Suggested Use

Background and Use

First documented by Western medicine in 1801, the historical use of Black Cohosh dates back through centuries of Native American culture.

Alfalfa's name is derived from the Arabic word al-fac-facah, meaning "father of all foods." Historically, Arabs used Alfalfa to feed horses as it was believed that Alfalfa could make horses stronger.

Medicinally, Alfalfa has widespread use and has been used traditionally in traditional Chinese medicine, India and by North American Indians.

Licorice has been used since ancient times, across many cultures as food and as medicine. In Chinese medicine, Licorice is an ingredient in nearly all herbal formulas for the traditional purpose of "harmonizing" the separate herbs involved. This important tonic herb is often called 'the grandfather of herbs.'

The early 20th century American physicians (Eclectics) prized Red Clover as an excellent alterative. Alteratives, known in folk medicine as "blood cleansers," were seen as herbs that assisted organs in the removal of metabolic waste and toxins from the circulatory system. Precautions

Caution should be taken with patients on hormone replacement therapy or oral contraceptives. Until more information is available, women with estrogen-dependent tumors such as breast cancer, should not take dietary supplements with phytoestrogenic activity. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Discontinue if unusual symptoms occur. Do not exceed recommended dose unless under the guidance of a health care professional.
