Background and Use
Native to tropical Australia, Lemon Myrtle is known as the "Queen of the lemon herbs". The essential oil has the highest citral purity; typically higher than Lemongrass. In traditional medicine, this herb was an important natural antibiotic for centuries by the Australian Aborigines. In modern test-tube studies the essential oil has a higher anti-microbial rating than tea tree oil yet at the same time it is gentler to the skin. Therefore, it has become a favorite ingrediant in health care and cleaning products, especially soaps, lotions and shampoos.
