Suggested Use
Take 1 mL once or twice daily in warm water or juice. 1 mL = approx. 40 drops.
Background and Use
First documented by Western medicine in 1801, the historical use of Black Cohosh dates back through centuries of Native American culture. Black cohosh is now one of the highest selling herbs in the USA. The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) recommends first considering lifestyle changes, alone or combined with a nonprescription remedy (such as dietary isoflavones, vitamin E, or Black Cohosh) for the relief of mild vasomotor symptoms. They note that for people with moderate to severe menopause-related hot flashes, prescription systemic estrogen-containing products are the therapeutic standard.
Precautions
Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed recommended dose unless under the guidance of a health care professional. Individuals who experience mild gastrointestinal upset or headaches should discontinue use.
WARNING: Until more information is available, women with estrogen-dependent tumors such as breast cancer should avoid using Black Cohosh.
Allergens
