Herbal Face Toners

Tired of the expense of herbal facial toners? The unnecessary preservatives and chemicals? The lack of real herbs? (most companies use a tiny amount so they can put it on the label).

There's an easy answer: Make your own toners!

This recipe has two parts:

1. Make the water-based infusion (tea basically) by selecting from the following list of suggested herbs:

    Lavender (Astringent) - Oily skin
Rosemary (Astringent, toning) - Normal to oily skin
Chamomile (Healing) - Normal, Oily, Sensitive, Blotchy skin
Calendula (Healing) - All skin types
Comfrey (Healing) - Dry, Blotchy, Prone to rashes
Elder Flower (Toning) - Normal to Dry skin

Combine with one of the following depending on skin type:

     Normal Skin: Apple Cider Vinegar
     Oily Skin: Witch Hazel
     Very Oily Skin: Vodka

2. Add very hot water. Leave to infuse overnight, if possible. Strain and store in a glass jar, filling up a small bottle weekly.

Quantities

For the water based infusion -2 cups of water to 2 tbs dried herb.
For the final toner, mix the 2 cups (500 ml) of strained infusion with 4 tbs of either apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, or vodka.

Herb choices

Can be mixed and matched. If using a combination, adjust the individual quantities so that the 2 cup to 2 tablespoon ratio is followed.
