We are excited to announce the final stages of completion of our new warehouse facility, which will be used to store our finished products and dried herbs!
As the magnificent fall days fade away, they are replaced by the life-giving rain, bringing vitality to our farm. We are presently busy collecting seeds from our annual crops. It is so very important to save the rich heritage of medicinal plants by preserving the genetic material which has evolved over millennia.
Other farm activities at this time of year include planting cover crops such as clover, oats, rye and crown vetch. These crops protect and nourish the soil through the winter months. In the spring, cover crops furnish the necessary biomass for spring planting.
Oregon's Wild Harvest is also starting to dig our root crops; dandelion, ashwagandha, astragalus, burdock and echinacea are just some of the many plants ready for processing. Fall is the optimum time to harvest these crops because this is when the plants concentrate their constituents within their roots to help them survive the long winter months.
