Best Growing Season in OWH History!
We've just completed our second full growing season using biodynamic methods, and the results are in: our Ashwagandha, Echinacea, and Astragalus harvests were the best ever! Plants were bigger, had stronger roots, and the flowers and seeds were much more bountiful than they've ever been before. And that's really saying something, because our crops were plenty healthy and robust to begin with.
We have also just completed our harvest of most of our root crops, so we have a fresh supply of dried Echinacea, Ashwagandha, Dandelion, and Astragalus going into our products. We also just received a fresh supply of organic milk thistle - just in time for production. This crop can already be found on our production line for finished products. Fresh dried certified organic Saw Palmetto is due to arrive any day, and that, too, is just in time.
We have mastered the art of growing, harvesting, and purchasing plant material in a timely manner, so everything that goes out our door and into your stores and homes is as fresh as humanly possible.
We also strive to promote sustainable, organic agribusiness, by purchasing plants from local growers - including several thousand pounds of fresh gingko, feverfew, and nettle. We process these herbs in our own facility, alongside the many herbs we grow on our farm.
While one growing season wraps up, the next one is already beginning. We are currently cleaning our seeds, looking over green house supplies, and preparing to start planting these freshly harvested seeds in our greenhouses. We will also be testing soil on all of our fields to fine tune the soil for the coming season. Healthy soil makes healthy plants. And healthy plants make healthy people.
So the plants at Oregon's Wild Harvest might be sleeping now, but we are not! Spring is just around the corner, and we have every reason to believe that the 2009 growing season will be the best ever. As always, we look forward to putting our harvest in your hands.
